1993 Topps Galaxy Series 1

The 1993 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 1 cards were the first to have a bigger shift from movie stills (like the 1977s and 1980s) to original artwork style cards. The artwork came from top comic artists, illustrators, and concept designers.

In my eyes, this set also had the first special/insert cards that were considered “premium pulls” with the etched foil cards.

    1994 Topps Galaxy Series 2

The 1994 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 2 set was the follow up to the successful release of the Series 1 set. They featured a similar approach, with the focus being on the art and working to expand the creativity of what could be done on a card from that art-focused approach.

      1995 Topps Galaxy Series 3

The 1995 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 3 set was the final set to wrap up the “original” Galaxy trilogy and continued to push to even more creativity as the first two sets. The themes stretched from iconic moments, characters, “what-if” concepts, and artist reinterpretations.

It also introduced some of the more popular insert sets for this first round of Galaxy cards like the LucasArt Foils.

The 1999 Topps Star Wars Episode I Widevision Series 1 was the first set for The Phantom Menace. It features 80 wide-format base cards to match the movie’s widescreen aspect ratio. The cards highlight major scenes from the first half of the move and are known for it’s high-quality stills that look like miniature movie frames with them being on the wider cards.
